Welcome to The Music Path

Building A Supportive Community

among high school musicians, emerging artists, and all passionate about the spirit of Contemporary Music!

Created With

Robby Krieger, songwriter and guitarist for The Doors

Our Programs

Contemporary Music for High Schools

We provide everything needed for a creative space on-campus. Students form their own bands and choose material to prepare for an end-of-year "Battle of the Bands".

Support For Graduates & Emerging Artists

High-quality professional performance opportunities, enabling bands to form coalitions that share promotion and revenue. These concerts broaden artistic community and build audience.

TMP Hosted Content
(Future)

Video & images from PLAY-off and On The Horizon concerts, as well as content made through partnerships with celebrities and industry professionals.

MusikAction Workshops

Affordable introductory workshops presented by TMP ambassadors, chosen from our community of emerging artists. They inspire and expose students to the joy of collaborative music-making, and also provide exposure for TMP. When held at high schools, they give school administrators an opportunity to assess student and faculty interest in our PLAY-off program.

About Us

We are building a supportive community among high school musicians, emerging and established artists, multi-media producers, and fans of Contemporary Music!

The Music Path (TMP) endorses and encourages Contemporary music’s focus on creative collaboration, originality, musicianship, and live performance. We achieve this through student-led project-based music enrichment, and concert promotion for bands of PLAY-off graduates and emerging artists. Our coalition-based concert production model encourages artist interaction within the local creative community, while providing financial and audience building opportunities for the bands. Professionally captured video of all performances, as well as content made in partnership with our celebrities and industry friends, is an important component of our efforts to generate sustainable funding.

The PLAY-offs

Free for public high schools, the PLAY-off program provides students the on-campus creative space to form bands that prepare for showcases and an end-of-year competitive concert (Battle of the Bands).

Students get to form their own groups, choose their own material, write original songs and manage their own rehearsals. Through this fun and engaging process, students gain confidence, and develop skills in creative collaboration and time management. TMP provides and maintains all the necessary equipment, technical support, and trained local emerging artists to facilitate student sessions.

After scaling out a number of schools, we plan to begin Inter-school Competitions for Contemporary Music, not unlike those commonly held for Marching Bands and Choirs, etc.

Celebrities

Most celebrities want to support younger artists who share their passion for music, and many are eager to “give back” as they can.

TMP gives them the important opportunity to (1) connect and interact directly with young artists in a supportive, structured and non-invasive way and (2)  help generate sustainable TMP funding, through partnerships that contribute exclusive original video content to our proprietary library.

TMP  captures or streams concerts or in-studio performances, offering far greater artistic freedom than typically available for commercial release.  These partners can also produce tutorials, mini-docs, or  interviews revealing their personal music path stories, anecdotes and high school experiences.

Industry Professionals

Like celebrities, successful entertainment industry professionals (Producers, Mixers, Cameramen, Editors, etc.) also want to “give back” and support young artists who share their musical passion.

Unlike celebrities, many are more capable of sharing their talent, experience and wisdom  than necessarily direct financial support.
In addition to any discounted production services, they can help us create original educational video content.

Other than producing tutorials or workshops, their high school experiences and personal or anecdotal stories while on their music paths, are also important and need to be told. What better or more valuable way for them to give back!

Video Production

Currently all PLAY-off, On The Horizon, or celebrity fundraising concerts are captured with high quality audio and multi-camera video production.

In the future, this content will be live streamed as pay-per-view events, and later hosted on the TMP on-line channel, with the addition content made in partnerships with our celebrity and industry professional friends.

We are actively  pursuing university partnerships to provide student interns for Los Angeles-based video production, while campus-bound students remotely control our local robotic cameras and perform post production services.

Emerging Artists

TMP encourages and promotes emerging artists and PLAY-off graduates who share our philosophy with programs like On The Horizon and Virtual Venu.

From this passionate community, we also recruit individuals to facilitate student sessions and provide technical support and administration for the PLAY-off program, and represent us as ambassadors for our Musikaction workshops.  These young artists bring incredibly inspiring enthusiasm and real-world “gigging” experience to our students!

Donors

Anyone who’s ever played in a band or ensemble, rock to classical, “gets it” – the sense of camaraderie and self-esteem it brings is priceless!

For questions about donations or how to contribute to our movement, please email us at: [email protected]

Manufacturers

TMP has over 15 manufacturing partners supplying us with free or heavily discounted products.  In return, they receive the promotional value from being associated with our movement, and having their products exposed to and in the hands of youth, their future market.

After a three year disruption due to Covid, the PLAY-off pilot at Hoover High School is back!  This groundbreaking after school program, created with Robby Krieger of The Doors, provides high school students the opportunity to form bands and choose their favorite music to rehearse and perform in this end-of-year competition. Unlike most extra curricular programs, this is almost entirely student driven!

We provide the on campus studio, with facilitators who are actual performing artists to provide technical support, inspiration and only guidance as needed. Students learn to collaborate and coordinate school/practice/life balance . . . while learning and performing the music they’re most passionate about!

Video content can be accessed on the TMP site in either a familiar searchable gallery style as used on YouTube etc., and/or on an individualized page in our Virtual Venu, whichever is applicable or desired by the contents owner. For TMP owned content, such as the live performances from our programs or the exclusive original content made through partnerships, access will be available as commercial-free with membership, as pay-per-view, or free with advertising.

Through TMP’s partnership with William Penn University in Oskaloosa Iowa, visiting student interns will provide Los Angeles-based video production, while campus-bound students remotely control our local robotic cameras and perform post production services.
